I recently came across a site I found intriguing that a casual friend put together: www.knick-knacks4u.com/. Apparently this is a packaged deal kind of website where whoever is behind it handles all the merchandise, and who knows what else. I really don't know how my friend fits into the picture. I do know that he's got the ability to add other products as he pleases, at least to some extent.

I'd be interested in doing something along these lines to supplement my interior design practice, but with a more sophisticated, higher end product line. How would I go about finding a setup of this nature and getting started? And getting the site advertised and listed in the search engines high enough to make it findable and distinguishable from anyone else's version of the same stuff?

My friend wasn't very helpful at all in pointing me in the right direction, I'm afraid, and I haven't been able to figure out what exactly to search for and have come up completely empty handed.
