We are in the process of developing a quick and effective media kit for our web site launch. We will have content and advice for a lot of life stuff, with an employment spin. I've downloaded CNet's media kit to get an idea, but wow a lot of information. Does anyone have tips on what is most important-to focus on, and what the costs should be when your traffic isn't that strong yet?
Cheers we don't have anyone within the company that has experience here.

Re: Hey some advice on media kits?
Fri, May 14, 2004 - 8:49 PMAsk yourself these questions first:
1) What do you want/expect from the press?
2) What makes your website/product unique?
3) If you were a reporter looking for a story, why would I want to write about your site?
4) What types of media outlets would I like to cover the site? -

Re: Hey some advice on media kits?
Sat, May 15, 2004 - 9:39 AMMichael is right on. Focus on the goal first. The main element is a press release announcing your buisness. That should be the focus of a young company like yours. The rest of the kit will consist of laundry lists of execs, contacts, and backgrounders which shouldn't take much of your time.
Don't try to emulate a CNET-- they are a mature company, with far different objectives. Figure out ONE key value statement or unique proposition that reporters will salivate over to start the release with. Build the release around that. Other things of value should be listed, but lower in the release. -

Mon, May 17, 2004 - 6:43 PMUsed it? Lets you control your bluetooth enabled mac from your nokia 3650. Example you can pause, play, change tracks, etc.. in iTunes over bluetooth. Fun for parties cause you can change songs that are playing without putting down your beer. Don't have the url in front of me but I can dig it up. I know its up on versiontracker.
