So, I will be selling my first self-help DVD and I've been talking with friends about the best type of website lay out to use.

Is it best to use the single long page type where they are forced to run through the whole thing, and then make their purchase near the end of the pitch?

Or is it best to use multiple pages broken down into "subjects" so peoplee have the freedom to click around at their will?

I've seen one marketing company saying "simple is best".

Any opinions out there?

I'd really appreciate it!

Also, if anyone like any particular website making software, I'd be curious to what it is!!

Thanks!!!!

    Justin,
hard to answer based on the info provided.
hook-up with an experience web designer (if in the budget) for some content/information architect advice.

simple is best...but not when someone has to scroll ad infinitum to the bottom of a page to get info. it's a delicate balance.
you could employ text jumps if you really did want to keep to one page.

    good luck.

Hi Justin. Consolations on your first self help DVD. I'd be curious to learn more about it.

As someone who worked for years in internet marketing companies that sell more or less a single product per website I would say that whoever told you that simple is better was correct. Of course every product deserves a different treatment but here is what I would do if I were you: Make the homepage very simple: Your company/book logo, a navigation bar (about the author, the product, order, contact us), the majority of the page should be divided between attractive graphics that convey your products message, and 2-3 medium paragraphs of texts describing the product. Then two big-ish buttons: "Buy Now" and "Learn more". If the click on learn more they get more information that can help them make the decision.

    Hope that helps,
    Eylon

Thanks for the suggestions! Eylon, what you wrote sounds super simple and straight foward!!

So far, I have a plain homepage with a self descritptive logo and an opt-in form. After they get the link for the FREE Report page via e-mail, they click on the link or are redirected to the Free report. I just have alot of content so I can answer all the basic questions and have testimonials as social proof giving examples of people I've helped.

I must say, though unfortunately I have very few pictures considering that the topic is helping people with frequent urination!!

Well for graphics you can go for a background picture of a content, happy/non stressed looking person with a textual testimonial over it.
It sounds like you are going in the right direction. Good luck!
